Last Wednesday, we were excited to bring back our Networking Luncheon—and this time, our focus shifted to Computer Science! Mr. Kirkley’s class had the opportunity to sit down with our friends from Southern Regional Technical College to learn more about advanced manufacturing pathways and opportunities.
A special thank you to our incredible guests for sharing their knowledge and time with our students:
🔹 Calvin Bowie – Manufacturing Engineering Faculty
🔹 Marvin Bannister – Precision Machining and Manufacturing Program Chair
🔹 Ralph Griffith – Interim Dean for Academic Affairs, School of Industrial Technology
🔹 Mason Miller – Vice President for Academic Affairs
At Thomasville City Schools, we believe in preparing students now—with the connections, support, and direction they’ll need long after graduation. Through Bulldog +1, we’re ensuring every student can explore what works best for them and meet the people who can help guide them toward their goals. 🐾🎓

Middle school teachers from both MPMS and SA participated in The Engagement Cycle workshop with John O’Connor.
Mrs. Lori Summer shared, “I found John O’Connor to be an engaging speaker. His presentation was thought-provoking and gave me an opportunity for self-reflection on how I engage students. I walked away with practical ideas that I can apply in my classroom.”
Ms. Engram and Ms. Howell, science teachers, said they love the engagement cycle. They stated that they can totally see using it in a phenomena based lesson.
Dr. Sims, Scholars Academy Director, and Dr. Jordan Williams, Chief Academic Officer, were also on hand to show their support for teacher growth and learning.

Mr. McCall showed how engineering concepts like structural loads, motion, and design apply to real-world examples such as bridges, buildings, and other architectural structures. 🏗️ His insights gave our students valuable knowledge and fresh ideas to carry into their OM projects.

🌅🌍Horizons expanded as the Scholars Academy middle school students became more culturally aware and considered what it means to be human. 🌍🌅
Gilbert Kubwimana shared how he survived the 1994 Rawandan genocide and took the lessons he learned to start the nonprofit organization from Love With Actions. Mr. Kubwimana presented the Youtube video Hope on the Hill 2025 to teach us how he and his team are caring for the needs of children with disabilities, restoring mothers, educating the Rwandan community, and transforming cultural beliefs.
After a Q&A session, Dr. Sims presented Mr. Kubwimana with a gift from our school and the City of Thomasville. 🎁Asante kwa kuja! (Thank you for coming!)🌹
