Thomasville, GA โ€“ Thomasville City Schools is proud to announce the launch of its First Annual Get2Work Initiative, a week-long workforce readiness program designed to prepare high school students for immediate employment after graduation.

This district-wide effort, part of the Bulldog +1 program, equips students with career exploration experiences, job readiness training, industry certifications, and direct exposure to local employers. The inaugural event held May 5โ€“9, engaged 5 students in a robust series of activities focused on developing career-ready skills.

Throughout the week, students:

ยท         Earned forklift certification and day-specific credentials through Southern Regional Technical College (SRTC)

ยท         Participated in resume writing workshops and mock interviews with real hiring professionals

ยท         Attended financial literacy sessions to strengthen personal budgeting skills

ยท         Toured local industries to gain insight into in-demand career opportunities

โ€œOur goal is to ensure every student leaves Thomasville High School with a plan and a path,โ€ said Ashley Palmer, Coordinator of STEM, CTAE, and Career Development. โ€œThe Get2Work Initiative bridges the gap between school and the workforce by providing relevant, hands-on learning that translates directly to employment opportunities.โ€

This program reflects Thomasville City Schoolsโ€™ continued investment in its Bulldog +1 missionโ€”ensuring every student graduates enrolled, enlisted, or employed.
